OTB FOUNDATION AND BOCCONI UNIVERSITY JOIN FORCES TO SHAPE THE FEMALE LEADERSHIP OF THE FUTURE
With a first investment of 280 thousand euro, the Foundation will finance the cost of the two-year master’s degree at the Bocconi University for carefully selected students who can choose from four courses – Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations; Politics and Policy Analysis; International Management and Management – that allow them to enter Public Administration and the top management of large companies, in which a greater presence of women is necessary and needed.
In Italy, only 19.1% of the top positions in public bodies such as the Constitutional Court, the Superior Council of the Judiciary, embassies, and independent administrative authorities such as CONSOB, are filled by women. In listed companies, only 2% of women hold the role of CEO, and in banks only 1%. In our country, moreover, fewer than 35% of senators and 36% of deputies are women. In some of the most important STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) faculties there is still a large gender disparity among enrollees (only 17% are women), without forgetting the gender pay gap, the difference in wages between genders, which awaits women once they start working.
