Hot Bread Kitchen (HBK) is a NY based social enterprise founded in 2008. Its mission is to to increase access to professional opportunities for immigrant and minority women by cultivating leaders in the culinary industry and positioning them in the multi-billion dollar food industry.
Hot Bread Kitchen changes the lives of immigrant women through two programs: Project Launch and HBK Incubates. The Project Launch is an on the job commercial baking training program that leverages immigrant women’s culinary skills and taps into customer demand for authentic ethnic breads. HBK Incubates provides graduates of Project Launch and low-income food entrepreneurs with the business tools and kitchen space necessary to grow and formalize their businesses.
Hot Bread Kitchen sells a high-end line of multi-ethnic breads inspired by a dynamic team of bakers from 11 different countries.
Profits from this line of breads are used to provide industry-specific training that enhances the future of low-income immigrant and minority women and preserves valuable baking traditions.
