CARRY is a non-profit association formed in March 2011 in the aim of helping education service providers and the local Ministry of Education improve education for children in rural peninsular African regions in the western area.
The organization, with funding with the Only The Brave Foundation, is building a pilot school in Lakka, a sea village in Sierra Leone: the St. Catherine Pre/Primary School. More than 100 children already attend pre- and primary school in the new building. Four qualified teachers, including a Head Teacher, have been hired, and one trainee is helping them.
The project consists in the construction of a private nursery and a private primary school and the implementation of an educational program to promote literacy among the poorest children. In addition, CARRY will be creating a professional training program for mothers and providing 6 scholarships for promising students.
